In this holiday season, I wish you the agility to maintain a reasonable control of your life. Enjoy the struggle by seeing the humor and possibilities of life. I find these principles helpful in my attempts to gain a perspective.

  • Behavior will not change, unless there are consequences to that behavior. No consequences, no change, this is not rocket science!
  • Make sure you seek a variety of insights and perspectives on serious subjects. Serious subjects are those issues or items that impact your life. Getting second opinions on other than medical topics is a prudent way to maintain sanity.
  • Empathy is a critical element in achieving an effective comprehension of life’s mysteries. Personal contact is the shortest distance to empathy, but there are other ways to gain understanding. Walking in someone else’s shoes is a journey that yields unanticipated benefits.

May the symbol of this day’s peace and joy be yours!
