The modern 24/7 world creates an environment that eliminates space and time. You see things happening in other parts of the world without leaving your house. The text messages, emails, and communications keep coming regardless of the time of day or day of the week. The smartphone keeps you connected all the time. It is your scheduling calendar, reminding you of tasks or appointments. It provides you the ease of checking for information while watching TV or talking. The smartphone is an appendage and we instinctively respond to its global connectivity.
However, the smartphone is not the enemy. You answer immediately. You are the one who responds to text messages as soon as they come in. You used to wait to see who sent you a letter. Now you are bombarded by emails and these too can be sent to your smartphone!
The 24/7 has other meanings. There are only 24 hours in a day. There are seven days in a week. How you prioritize, your time is your decision. Do not allow the majority of your time to be responding to messages with questionable urgency. Development, growth, and change needs the nourishment of time and thinking. Change is not possible if you never allow time for it to mature. Change is like a rare vintage wine, it improves with age.
