Will Durant’s description that people building homes, making love, raising children, singing songs, writing poetry, and whittling statues. People also struggle with illness, relationships, work, have economic difficulties, lose love one’s and fear what tomorrow may bring. Life is a balancing act between joy and pain, love and fear, hope and anger. This is the human characteristic, a blend of strengths and weaknesses. We move forward and sometime go back.
The reality is that progress and sound results are for those who keep moving forward. Hoping and knowing that setbacks are like the labor before birth. It seems to be a given, that real progress and sustainable results are forged in the furnaces of heat treat. That each situation makes us stronger. There are those who cannot withstand the temperature. However, for most, the results are good. Looking back provides a window of understanding. A horizon that is hidden when you are in the middle of the turmoil. The turbulence hides the purpose. The reality is that you must just get through the chaos, as your first priority.
As tranquility returns lose yourself to the mind roaming free. Trying to understand this mystery of life, is only possible when you let your soul search. Analyzing what happened and why will block the path to insight. Thus listen to music, read poetry, write stories, and embrace the wisdom of the Lumbee who counsel that we must “Seek wisdom, not knowledge. Knowledge is of the past, Wisdom is of the future.”
