Marcus Aurelius “Everything we hear is an opinion, not a fact. Everything we see is a perspective, not the truth.” This is because we listen and see thru the prism of our paradigms. The danger is the ease, in which others can distract you from reality. In a divided society, it is the way to promote parochial agendas thru fake facts, and lies. The result is that it will further divide the community or nation. Especially in the contemporary 24/7 news cycles and social media. We are overwhelmed with fraudulent and misleading representation of reality. There are no such thing as alternate facts. Facts are verified information, truths about events as opposed to interpretation.

You are responsible for discerning truth from fiction. How do you do this? Listen carefully, consider the source. Is the source habitually responsible for misrepresenting reality? See if the story is believable. When the subject is attacking someone else, beware. Get other opinions, cross reference the stories. Most of all free yourself from fear and prejudice. When the hype demeans others, plays on your fears, this is the magician distracting you from his activity in conjuring up the trick. Most of all, stop and think. Look for the reason for the distraction. In most cases follow the money.
